House Beautiful in Browns and Blacks

It's an oldie but goodie... I've never tired of this gorgeous living room, published in House Beautiful back in 2008.  I love how the designer beautifully combines chocolate brown and black, something most people would consider an "either/or" (similarly, we're seeing navy blue and black paired together more frequently).  Paired with just enough crystal, gold and white ceramic accents, this sophisticated room will continue to pass the test of time!

The Disappearing Living Room

When surveyed on the projected state of the home of 2015, 52 percent of builders anticipate the living room to merge with other areas of the home, while 30 percent believe it will disappear completely!

Too bad; I'll miss these formal, glamourous living rooms!

Inspiration - Chocolate Living Room

Here's a little inspiration board for a client's living room that I'm working on.  Picture a beautiful Victorian living room with high ceilings, enormous windows, stunning molding and oodles of sun light.  Couple that space with a super sweet, flexible and game-for-anything client - what fun!
