As I work to finish up my bedroom (New Year's Resolution #1), I decided to create a few toss cushions to soften the room. I choose the same
Osbourne & Little fabric that I upholstered the
bench top in and a charming silk plaid that I found at Zimman's for accent pieces. I still am looking for an accent fabric - perhaps something in Pantone's color of the year: Honeysuckle.
First measure your pillows - or if you haven't clipped the "DO NOT REMOVE" tag, it usually states the pillow size on the tag.
Lay out your fabric and outline where you are going to sew. I had a little helper :) (And yes, I do use a ruler and triangle so that my angles are square!)
Cut your fabric and pin the right sides together.
Sew along your "line" and leave about half the length of one side open so you can stuff your pillow insert into the cover.
Trim the excess fabric, especially on the corners for nice crisp seams.
Turn the cover right side out and press the seams.
Insert your pillow.
Pin the closure to keep the fabric straight.
Carefully sew the open seam.
And enjoy your new pillows!
Stay tuned...the "bed" reveal is coming soon!
Cheers!
Becky
