Lily...

Last week, I lamented that I couldn't find the perfect fabric that incorporated the colors represented in the inspiration board below...

Then last night, after I heard of socialite turned designer Lily Pulitzer's passing, I logged on to take another look at her collection at Lee Jofa and found this....  It's called Lily Lace, and it's perfect...

Lee Jofa launched the collection a couple of springs ago, and it's full of quintessentially Lily fabric - perfect for a beach house!

The fabrics in the collection can be used as unexpected pop of color in an otherwise serene room...

... or as the main attraction in a room saturated with bright tones...

This Lily dressing room shows us exactly what Lily will be best remembered for...

Client Project: Window Nook

We're loving how this formerly bare, but inherently beautiful, window nook came out for a client friend!

The addition of custom roman shades, window seat cushion and throw pillows warmed this unique nook up immediately.

Here's the before....

...and the after...

How gorgeous is the detailing on our client's antique table?

The formal, and graphic window seat fabric set off with a fun punch of polka dots and velvet...

Have a great day!

New from Mary McDonald

Between her starring role on Million Dollar Decorators, and her new line for Schumacher, Mary McDonald's got it goin' on lately.  I love watching her on MDD - from her buff arms, to her botoxed face, to her shrill commands of those around her, I just can't look away.

In the season finale Tuesday, Mary axed her much photographed kitchen nook, which I loved.

Out went the graphic black and white wallpaper, and in came Island Ikat by Quadrille, on the walls and banquet cushions.

Velvet upholstery and a new chrome light complete the look, which I love just as much as the first version.  Hey, sometimes we all get a little bored with what we've got, I guess.

Just yesterday, McDonald went on to launch a fabulous line for Schumacher, full of lots of Chinoiserie and plenty of fretwork details.  Love.

How great are these appliques?

Can't wait to use them for a project...

The fabrics look super too - can't wait to see them in person...

Have a great weekend!

Split Personality

Did you see the adorable shots from the winner of Schumacher's "Show Us Your Schumacher" contest?

Beautiful baby aside, don't you just love how the designers used two, sometimes three different fabrics to treat these wing back chairs?

Lauren from Pure Style Home used a similar technique on these chairs for a Washington D.C. showhouse...

You can count on Chairloom to show us an fabulous before and after!

But this look needn't be reserved just for wingbacks....

Hope you had a great weekend!

Hat Party!

There is an event in New York City that I have always wanted to see in action... not so much attend as just be a fly on the wall: The Frederick Law Olmsted Awards Luncheon.  AKA: The Hat Party.

Tiffany was the sponsor and provided Tiffany blue bags and umbrellas!

And do you see what I see?

Yep - that's Scalamandre's Chi'en Dragon exclusively colored and fabricated for the FLO luncheon. Afterwards the tablecloths were available for sale and all proceeds went to the Conservancy.

Here is this exquisite fabric in action!

And this one you can pick up on Etsy for a cool $90!

Cheers!

Inspired by Nature: Purple and Red

Yesterday's top trending stories included a piece highlighting the recent discovery of a new species of crab on the Philippine island of Palawan.  Its bright purple shell, which gradually fades to red on the tips of its extremities, is beyond striking.

What do you think of the purple/red color combo?  Browse the images below.. I think I like it best when cut with an aqua or light blue...
