Bye-Bye Cribby

Apparently, we're all of a sudden ready to say good-bye to what is probably the last crib in our little family's history.  It looks something like this, and successfully held our twins (together!) for a bunch of months, and several years later, has been housing our third little lady, Livi Jane.

All was well until this week when, at age 2.4, she expressed that she was "really stuck" and "really really mad" about sleeping in it (how can she not appreciate those spindles?!).  Then two nights ago I heard a giant thud, only to find her wailing on the floor.  That development, coupled with her repeated requests to "sleep on the grass!" (ie the floor), officially signaled to me that it was time to say good-bye to Liv Jane's "cribby".

We pulled the trigger last night, when we broke down her crib and set up her big girl bed.  It was not smooth sailing... to say the least.  Last time I peaked into her nursery, I found these two, deep in sleep "in the grass".

After two hours of bed-time hysteria and confusion - "I'm too big for my big girl bed!", "I want my cribby", "I want to sleep in the grass!", "I want to sleep in mommy's bed", "I don't like my room!" - I'm feeling super nostalgic not only for the crib, but for the baby who didn't know how to talk or protest yet.

If I had to do it all over again, you can bet I'd be hitting up Annette Tatum's nursery collection.  How refreshing are these bedding options for your little one?

Loving all these fabric choices....

Have a great weekend!
Deb

  1. Baby bedding and birth announcements get my biological clock ticking. I've redone Lauren's bedroom three times now and twice for the boys to keep it in check. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Oh, so sweet to see them curled up! My twinkies moved to big boy beds at 3.5 (? maybe later - they stayed in a long time!) and even now, a year later, one of them occasionally says he wants his crib back.
