Reupholstery: What's Old Is New Again

I have a couple of "reclaimed" (from the dump or side of the road) chairs back from the upholsterer for my own home, and am delighted with the results...

This cute little chair was reupholstered with some fabric I picked up for a song at Brimfield a couple of weeks ago.

It's sitting in the opposite corner of my youngest daughter's room, pictured below...

And I pulled the trigger on one of these swatches (Petite Zig Zag) for a chair in my master bedroom.

Clients often ask how appropriate or safe it is to reupholster old beat up furniture with recent concerns about bed bugs and so forth.  The answer is that our upholsterer takes everything down to the frame, so essentially we get back a new piece of furniture.

Don't let the bed bugs bite!
