Celebrating 100 Years of Cherry Trees!

Is there any tree more beautiful in the garden than a blooming cherry tree?  I mean, come on - how could this not just tickle you pink?  The mass profusion of delicate little buds, each one slightly different than the next, in colors that range from blush to magenta... be. still. my. heart!

And you know how I've been feeling about pink these days!!!  Do I even have to mention that I am totally diggin' it?

Now imagine all of this times a thousand - actually 3000 - and you've got Spring in Washington DC.  And this spring, the National Cherry Blossom Festival celebrates the 100th anniversary of the gift of trees from Tokyo to Washington DC.  I have always wanted to see the blooming cherry trees and one day hopefully will!  The celebration starts on the first day of spring and continues until Arbor Day.

Ahhhh spring!

Cheers!
Becky

  1. It's the best time to visit DC! I'll be running in the Cherry Blossom 10-miler this year and I couldn't be more excited :). Do come visit!
