Canines Captured (Artistically, That Is)

As I mentioned yesterday, my relationship with dogs is a bit iffy.  I briefly had a dog in third grade, and it didn't end well.  Sandy wasn't a great dog to begin with, but that didn't make it any less devestating to this 8 year old when she met her demise one Halloween morning on a busy nearby street.

September's issue of Martha Stewart's Living magazine featured a wonderful article on saying goodbye and grieving the death of a pet.  Writer Karen Asp suggests memorializing your pet by commissioning a painting, and offers a beautiful example by Leigh Jackson of Noisy Dog Studio.  How awesome are these?  I'm not sure I'm ready for another dog, but I'd happily take one of these paintings...

Etsy seller Manda's Art Studio creates beautiful portraits from photos of your pet...

If you prefer something a bit more literal (and your dog's still alive to be "captured"), Marko Savic does amazing dog portraits...

Have a great day,
Deb
