In the Navy!

A friend of ours has a fantastic living room that, inspired by the acquisition of a "new" antique rug, she is considering repainting.  Because the ceilings are high with incredible moldings, the windows are gigantic and the sun streams in, we think it is a perfect candidate to be painted navy.  Here are some images to inspire! What do you think...should she "Join the Navy?"

  2. Love this! I don't think I would have ever dared do a room in navy until I saw this. Now I have navy envy.

  3. If I may cross the gender barrier here for a moment, am wondering if anyone would endorse also painting the ceiling in that dark color? I know conventional wisdom is to leave a ceiling white for fear of creating the feel of a closed-in space, but I've seen it work in a sufficiently large room.

And I remember painting an entire room a horrible dark color back in college...my triceps still hurt from my "sistine chapel" action on the ceiling.
