Have you been struggling to find the perfect rug, pillow, or couch for your space and the usual suspects aren't providing the color or size you need? You're in luck, because there are now several online sources that allow you to design your own!
I tried it a couple of years ago with Jonathan Adler, everyone's favorite trippy/preppy 'happy chic' interior designer. I customized the greek key rug you see in my old living room below, choosing from at least a dozen colors, and selecting a non-standard size that would not have been available elsewhere.
I created the rug by viewing color and rug samples at Jonathan Adler's Upper East Side store, hoping the colors I selected would work together, then waiting several weeks to see the final product upon delivery to my Massachusetts front door. Now, however, Adler has added software to his website which allows you to customize rugs and pillows from his hand loomed wool collection. You could play for hours on this, and get a chance to see your designs before taking the plunge and making a purchase. Some examples:

Another great source for custom natural weave rugs is Sisal Rugs Direct's Create a Rug program.
You can customize your own sisal or jute rug, creating your own size and binding color/material (check out the leather binding - killer!). I just created a 6x6 rug in the texture below for my mudroom - a size I was having trouble finding elsewhere.
