In Love with "The Bee Cottage" Garden

You may have been following along with House Beautiful's Contributing Editor Frances Schultz East Hampton home and garden renovation.  We have seen the renovation of "The Bee Cottage" start with the living room, move through the rest of the house, and finally yesterday finish with the garden renovation.  It is magnificent!

One of the things that is most fascinating to me is that she has taken a modest home and turned it into a showplace by embracing the size, and scaling appropriately.  For example her back yard is less than half a basketball court (94' x 50' in case you were wondering)....and yes folks, she has a pool.  It just goes to show that if you set clear goals, plan and scale correctly, you can have all the things you want!

Have a look and the before and afters!

How 'bout them apples?!?  Lovely huh?

Cheers!

Kickin' It Poolside

Now that the warm weather is upon us the pools are open and the lounging has begun (or the running around after kids and constantly counting heads has begun), I have been dreaming of water quenching pool spaces. Pools seem to come in all shapes and sizes, but all look delicious!  Here are some amazing pool spaces courtesy of House & Home and Elle Decor:

Can you imagine an intimate dinner party pool side?  I LOVE this space.
The angular juxtaposition is a fun play.
Traditional, but lovely spaces. The light blue and chocolate is a natural pair.
Another traditional poolside space - would you ever guess that the building is a garage?
Where do I begin? The privacy hedges are key.  The right/left symmetry is amazing - down to the lanterns on the edge of the pool.
The view. Need I say more??
 There are no words....
And don't forget the lights!!!  Check out this "galaxy"....

Enjoy!

Toss Cushions, They're Not Just for Inside!

Ever since the sun started shining again, I have been dreaming of outdoor spaces.  I adore being outside and creating comfortable rooms. What better way to make a room cozy than with comfortable cushions?  And with the plethora of outdoor fabrics from lines like Trina Turk for Schumacher (which we have featured in the past and more recently here), Lee Jofa, and Kravet, your patio can look as fabulous as the rest of your home!

Here are some fabulous outdoor rooms courtesy of Canadian House and Home - from the classic to the whimsical.  Lovely, cozy and welcoming - I'd hang out here anytime!

These outdoor spaces are quite lovely and understated, but if you prefer a little more VAVOOOOOM, you'll love the vignettes below featuring the aforementioned Trina Turk for Schumacher indoor/outdoor collection.

I mean seriously my friends...does it get any better than this???

Well actually, now you can purchase ready made indoor/outdoor pillows from the usual cast of characters in varying price points:
